May Is For Heroes

04-22-2021

At the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, we know that heroes are everywhere. Heroes are the private citizens who intervene during an abduction to save a child’s life. Heroes are law enforcement officers who go to extraordinary lengths to rescue a child. They’re educators who teach kids how to protect themselves and they’re survivors who speak out so other children are safer from harm. The list goes on and on.

That’s why every day in May, NCMEC will share with you the inspirational stories of people who’ve gone above and beyond to protect our most vulnerable, our children.

“We’re so proud to recognize the hard work and courage of many individuals and agencies throughout the month of May,” said John Clark, NCMEC’s president and CEO. “We can all find large and small ways to be champions for children and we hope this month inspires you to make a difference in your community!”

Every Tuesday, NCMEC will also honor recipients of our “Hero” awards, which we believe recognize some of the most significant contributions to child safety in the past year.
