Houston Family Finally Has Answers: A Message From Kristen Galvan's Family

A statement from Kristen's family:

"For more than six years, we searched for our beautiful daughter, Kristen. Through every unanswered question, every lead, every sleepless night, and every heartbreak, we never gave up. We held onto hope that one day we would have answers and be able to bring our daughter home.

Today, while our hearts are shattered beyond words, we are grateful that Kristen will be finally home with her family. Nothing can erase the pain of losing her or the years that were taken from us, but bringing her home allows us to lay her to rest with the love and dignity she has always deserved."

The remains of Kristen Galvan have been identified more than six years after her disappearance. Through extensive forensic DNA testing, investigators with the Texas Attorney General's Office confirmed that the remains of a previously unidentified Jane Doe, discovered near a jogging trail in Missouri City, Texas, shortly after Kristen vanished, are those of Kristen.

Throughout the search for Kristen, her family transformed their grief into advocacy, working to raise awareness about child sexual exploitation and child sex trafficking while keeping Kristen's story in the public eye.

Among those efforts, Kristen's mother, Robyn Cory, advocated for safety improvements along Houston's Bissonnet corridor, an area long associated with sex trafficking. Her work contributed to the installation of barriers designed to disrupt trafficking activity. In recognition of the family's advocacy and Kristen's lasting impact, Mayor John Whitmire and Councilmember Mary Nan Huffman proclaimed April 20, Kristen's birthday, as "Kiki's Day" in 2024.

The Galvan family's unwavering commitment to seeking answers not only ensured Kristen was never forgotten but also inspired advocacy that continues to benefit vulnerable children, victims and families throughout the Houston community.
