NCMEC's Blog Wins National Award...and more!

For the first time, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s blog is being recognized nationally for the work it’s doing to drive the search for missing kids.

NCMEC’s blog was honored last week by Ragan PR Daily as the 2023 blog winner at their annual Social Media and Digital Awards Luncheon in New York City. Ragan PR Daily has long been an industry leader for public relations professionals, delivering news, conferences, and awards to top PR and communications brands across the country.

Here at NCMEC, we know how important it is to get information about our issues to the public quickly and efficiently. On our blog, we’re able to give readers a real-time look into the work we’re doing at NCMEC by informing readers about our cases, the latest issues surrounding our work, and telling you the stories of the many families we serve.

While we are thrilled by this honor, we know this recognition would not be possible without you! It’s because of your readership and following that our blog is a success. Thank you for following along, sharing on social media, and becoming invested in the stories we tell.

Ragan PR Daily’s website says the awards program celebrates the “most successful campaigns, initiatives, people and teams in communication, PR, marketing and employee wellbeing industries.” Ragan acknowledged the tremendous growth of the NCMEC blog, especially in the past year.

It wasn’t too long ago that our blog existed somewhat under the radar, with inconsistent, sporadic content and no strategy or organization.

Ragan recognized that “the NCMEC Communications team saw the potential to build the blog into something that would elevate the brand — and literally, save lives… By telling the stories of missing children, the platform allows for more in-depth storytelling than traditional news media or social media.”

“I’m thrilled for Christine and our entire NCMEC Communications Team, who work so hard to tell these stories and engage our audience,” said Gavin Portnoy, Vice President of Communications & Brand at NCMEC. “Thanks to their efforts, our blog has become a reputable resource for news outlets to reference, a place where families can share their experiences and a source for information on what’s new surrounding the issues that kids are facing,” Portnoy said.

In addition to the blog award, the communications team also received an honorable mention from Ragan PR Daily in the Media Relations Campaign category. The award showcases communicators that produce innovative strategies for securing media coverage and the ability to craft engaging stories for an audience.

The awards from Ragan PR Daily are not the only honors received by NCMEC recently. Just a few weeks ago, NCMEC’s Communications Director, Angeline Hartmann, was honored as one of PRWeek’s Women to Watch in 2023. PRWeek, a leading source of news and analysis for the public relations industry, selected 13 inspiring women from across the country who were nominated by their peers and colleagues for setting the bar higher within their organizations.

“We are overjoyed that PRWeek chose Angeline as one of their honorees,” Portnoy said. “She truly has revolutionized the way we protect children through the power of the media. Angeline is a trusted advocate for families, using her skills as an award-winning journalist to tell compassionate stories with life-saving impact.”

And this just in: last night in New York City, NCMEC was honored yet again, receiving “The Changemaker” award from Adobe at their annual Experience Maker Awards ceremony. According to the website, this award recognizes a company that has innovated by leveraging Adobe Experience Cloud tools to drive quantifiable social or environmental impact for their audience. Adobe has been a strong partner of NCMEC for more than a decade and their products touch nearly every one of NCMEC’s programs. This is the second time NCMEC won an Experience Maker Award – this year’s “Changemaker” recognized how NCMEC’s communications team leverages Adobe tools to produce creative stories to help make sure every child has a safe childhood.

“The last few weeks have been full of well-deserved recognition for our team and I’m so proud of where we are heading,” Portnoy said.

As we work diligently on new ways to keep the public informed about our issues and the ways you can get involved, we want to take a final moment to thank you for following along with us. These awards would not be possible without your support. Don’t forget to visit our website for the latest information, keep in touch with our blog, and follow us on social media at @missingkids.
