COVID-19 Update

03-24-2020

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has always put one mission first: ensuring the safety and health of our children. While Coronavirus has captured the attention of the U.S. and the entire world - the families of missing and exploited children still need our help and our work has not stopped.

Through the support of our partners, we’ve been able to prioritize the safety of our staff by ensuring that our teams are well-equipped to telework and to continue working as hard as ever to find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent future victimization.

All of the other emergencies that existed before the Coronavirus outbreak are still here.

Children who are missing and in danger still need our help, and with everyone spending more time online, children could be at greater risk for online exploitation.

Coronavirus and COVID-19 will not stop us from protecting children.

For parents: with many students home because of school closures, we have some tips and fun activities on our site that may be helpful.

  • Watch Into the Cloud episodes with your kids: They are binge-able, age appropriate videos that include activities to help teach children to be safer online. Into the Cloud will help them become more aware of potential risks and more empowered to help prevent victimization by making safer choices online and offline.

  • Explore NCMEC’s blog: There are several good posts about keeping kids safe online.

  • Follow us on social media: for the latest updates on how to protect children.

Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by COVID-19. As we deal with this unprecedented global situation, we want to thank you for your support over the years. We are in this together, and as always, our light will continue to stay on until all missing children come home.

Stay safe.
