"Alert: Missing Persons Unit" Back for Season Two

03-04-2024

The action-packed and heart-pounding procedural drama, “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” on Fox, is back on March 5 for its highly anticipated second season.

The series follows detectives Nikki Batista (Dania Ramirez) and Jason Grant (Scott Caan) along with other members of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (MPU). Each episode follows the intense life-or-death search for a missing person and according to Dania Ramirez, season two is going to be more exciting than ever.

“There’s gonna be so much drama,” Ramirez told NCMEC. “There’s gonna be so much action and there’s gonna be a lot of laughter, too. I think that’s what’s really cool about this season. We have humanized these people. You get excited about the relationships that they have with each other, how they relate to one another, and then how they relate to the victims. Each case is brand new. It’s exciting.”

Watch a first look at season two below:

Premiering originally in January 2023, the show was an instant hit, giving people an inside look at what’s happening in real police departments across the country.

“Keep in mind that these are real life heroes that we are interpretating,” Ramirez said. “There are people out there really doing that job.”

The premiere episode alone garnered more than 5 million viewers.

Now, back for a second season, detectives Nikki and Grant are back together with their MPU team to find missing and abducted people and reunite them with their loved ones before it’s too late. Just like last season, you can follow the story on each episode and on social media, where Fox will collaborate with NCMEC to share real-life statistics on missing children’s cases.

The premiere episode of season two is titled "Bus 447." According to the episode guide, “as MPU moves into new offices, which comes with a new boss, Inspector Hollis Braun, a call comes in reporting the disappearance of an entire city bus full of students on a field trip.”

Ramirez expects the premiere to keep people on their toes.

“These are cases that are ripped right out of the headlines,” Ramirez said. “You know, these are things that have actually happened. The first episode is a busload of children that are missing, so it’s not just one missing person, it’s all these other missing people. Then the adults get involved and the parents get involved in the whole thing. I feel like there’s so much more at stake and you feel that right from the very beginning of the season.”
