September 20, 2017 - Bradenton, FL

After an altercation with their mother, a man took two siblings (ages 8 and 3) in a stolen vehicle. The abductor was the father of one child and not the other, and his history and the nature of the abduction led law enforcement to believe the children were in grave danger. An AMBER Alert was activated and seen by someone who knew the abductor. This person was able to obtain a location and work with law enforcement to safely locate and rescue the children. The abductor was arrested.

September 1, 2017 - Fresno, CA

After a domestic altercation, a man abducted his 6-month-old child from the child’s mother. The abductor made threats against the child, leading to the activation of an AMBER Alert. The activation included a message to cell phones via Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The abductor received the WEA on his cell phone and he returned the child to the child’s mother before fleeing the scene. The child was returned safely.

August 31, 2017 - Commerce City, CO

A man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and forcibly abducted the woman and her 1-year-old child. As the suspect was believed to have weapons on him, an AMBER Alert was activated. Law enforcement received tips from the public due to the Wireless Emergency Alert which led them to locate the vehicle. Later, a citizen who had encountered the abductor, mother, and child, learned of the AMBER Alert from a friend and realized who they were. The citizen provided this information to law enforcement, who successfully located and rescued the child. The abductor was arrested.

August 18, 2017 - Georgetown, KY

A 4-year-old child was forcibly abducted by his non-custodial mother and an associate. The nature of the abduction and the abductor’s history led law enforcement to believe the child was in imminent danger and an AMBER Alert was activated. The abductor saw the alert and contacted law enforcement to turn herself in. The child was returned safely and the abductor was arrested. 

August 10, 2017 - Fort Wayne, IN

After an argument, a man broke the window of a vehicle containing his 2-year-old daughter, pulled her out and took off in another vehicle. The nature of the abduction and the abductors history led law enforcement to believe the child was in extreme danger and an AMBER Alert was activated. The abductor saw the alert in a Wireless Emergency Alert message. In response, he released the child to a relative who contacted law enforcement. 

August 7, 2017 - Ocean City, MD

Two women forcibly abducted a 3-year-old child from her grandparents. The women were known to the family. The nature of the abduction led to the activation of an AMBER Alert, which was broadcast on Department of Transportation highway signs. The abductors saw the AMBER Alert on the signs and contacted law enforcement and arranged to release the child. The abductors were arrested.

August 4, 2017 - Missoula, MT

2 children, ages 9 and 11, were taken by their non-custodial father. The abductor was possibly under the influence and law enforcement believed the children were in enough danger to activate an AMBER Alert. The vehicle they were traveling broke down, and a law enforcement officer assisted in calling a tow truck. When the AMBER Alert was activated, the officer recognized the abductor and returned to the location. The children were rescued and the abductor was arrested.

July 19, 2017 - Omaha, NE

An 8-year-old child was abducted by his non-custodial father. The abductor’s statements and behavior led law enforcement to activate an AMBER Alert. A citizen heard the AMBER Alert on the radio and spotted the vehicle at a gas station before it drove off. Law enforcement pursued the abductor and rescue the child. The abductor was arrested. 

July 18, 2017 - Indianapolis, IN

A woman abducted her 3 children, ages 2, 3, and 7. An AMBER Alert was activated because the abductor had made threats against the children and they were believed to be in imminent danger. Sometime later, the abductor dropped the children off with a relative. The relative then saw the AMBER Alert on a Wireless Emergency Alert message and, realizing the children were featured in the alert, notified law enforcement. The children were safely recovered and the abductor was arrested. 

July 15, 2017 - Hallandale, FL

A 9-year-old child was abducted by her non-custodial mother from a church. The abductor’s history prompted the activation of an AMBER Alert. A citizen saw the alert and later recognized the child at a gas station. The citizen notified law enforcement, who were able to locate the abductor and child. The abductor was arrested and the child safely rescued.
